Follow the instructions in this article to prepare your Deliverect menu for ezCater.
Before publishing your menu to ezCater, you’ll need to configure a few settings in Deliverect so that important information are sent correctly to ezCater (e.g., serving sizes, dietary preferences, tax categories, and packaging requirements).
Menu publishing to ezCater is not active by default. Once your menu setup is complete, contact your Deliverect account manager or our support team to confirm that ezCater menu publishing is activated on your account.
Before you begin
Before publishing your menu, make sure:
Every catering item has a Serving Size.
Relevant items and modifier choices have the correct Dietary, Allergen, and Item Type tags.
All food items have a free utensil modifier attached or a priced utensil menu item.
Products have the appropriate tax-related tags.
Your menu contains only one level of modifiers.
Unsupported menu structures, such as nested modifiers and variants, have been removed.
Menu setup requirements
1. Add serving sizes
ezCater uses serving sizes to support catering items that are priced or displayed based on the number of people they serve.
Where to configure
Navigate to the Product specifications page for the product and go to the Serving size tab. Assign serving size to every item included on your ezCater menu.
2. Add dietary and allergen tags
Dietary tags help customers understand which menu items meet their dietary preferences and requirements.
These tags can be applied to both:
Main menu items
Modifier choices
Where to configure this
Navigate to the Product specifications page for the product and go to the Tags tab. Apply the appropriate tags to each product or modifier.
Supported Deliverect tags |
Gluten free |
Halal |
Kosher |
Spicy |
Vegan |
Vegetarian |
3. Add item type tags
Item type tags assist ezCater in correctly classify certain products. For example, whether a product is a dessert, drink, ice, or utensil.
Where to configure
Navigate to the Product specifications page for the product and go to the Tags tab.
Supported Deliverect tags |
Dessert |
Drinks |
Ice |
Utensils |
For products: sent to ezCater as item type tags.
For modifiers: sent as choice type tags. If it does not have an applicable tag, it will use the name of the modifier group to help determine its type.
4. Configure utensils correctly
Add a utensil modifier group to all food items. Keep the following requirements in mind:
Attach an appropriate utensil modifier group to all food menu items.
Do not place consumable items such as ice, creamer, sauces, or food items inside a utensil modifier group.
Modifier choices inside a utensil group cannot have individual prices.
If you need to charge for utensils, they must be configured as standalone products rather than priced modifier choices.
5. Configure tax categories
Deliverect uses product tags to determine which ezCater tax category should be assigned to each item. When multiple applicable tags exist, Deliverect uses the first matching tax category.
Where to configure this
Navigate to the Product specifications page for the product and go to the Tags tab.
Important tax behavior
If an item does not have a delivery tax value, ezCater treats it as EXEMPT.
If Deliverect cannot find a matching tax tag, the item defaults to
PREPARED_FOOD.Deliverect does not send your restaurant's tax rate to ezCater when publishing the menu.

7. Configure Relish (Meal Program) items

Where to configure this
Navigate to the Product specifications page for the product and go to the Tags tab.
Set the correct tag for the product.
Supported Deliverect tags |
Relish |
Packaged Relish Side (use if side would be packaged separately from the entree, such as a side of fries when a salad is ordered) |
How Relish (Meal Program) items are handled
Products tagged with RELISH are:
Sent to the Relish channel
Sent with a serving size of 1
Marked as individually wrapped
Products tagged with Packaged Relish Side are:
Mapped to ezCater's:
INDIVIDUALLY_PACKAGED_RELISH_SIDEchoice tag.
Deliverect supports one unified menu push for restaurants selling on both ezCater Marketplace and ezCater Relish (Meal Program) — restaurants no longer need to maintain two separate ezCater menus.
ezCater menu limitations
The following features are not currently supported when managing an ezCater menu through Deliverect.
Modifier structure
Only one modifier level is supported
ezCater supports:
Product
Modifier group
Modifier
Nested modifiers are not currently supported. For example, the following structure is not supported:
Product
Modifier group
Modifier
Additional modifier group
Multiple quantities of the same modifier are not supported
Customers cannot select the same modifier choice multiple times. For example, a setup that allows a customer to select 3x Extra Chicken as a quantity-based modifier is not supported.
Modifier group minimums are limited
The minimum required selection for a modifier group can be set to a maximum of 1.
Upsells and variants
Avoid using upsell groups and variant products on your ezCater menu.
Upsell groups
Products contained inside an upsell group may be published as separate top-level menu items. Any modifiers attached to those products may be ignored because ezCater does not support nested modifier structures.
Variants
Variant products are not fully supported. In some cases, ezCater may interpret the lowest-priced variant as having no additional charge, which can cause the item to be displayed incorrectly or become unavailable.
Availability and store management
Item snoozing
ezCater does not support product snoozing through Deliverect.
If a product is no longer be available:
Keep future orders in mind: As ezCater customers often place catering orders several days in advance, an item that is unavailable today may still be available for a future fulfillment date.
Busy mode and store status
You cannot change your ezCater store's availability or activate Busy mode from Deliverect. Availability settings must be managed through ezCater.
Opening hours and menu availability
The following settings cannot currently be managed through Deliverect:
ezCater opening hours
Category-level availability schedules
Multiple ezCater menus
Stock and Courier Information
The following features are also not supported through the Deliverect integration:
Real-time stock management
Courier status or courier updates
Item-level price breakdown information
Menu display and ordering behavior
Product sorting
ezCater determines the order in which menu items are displayed. Items may be automatically sorted based on factors such as popularity. The display order cannot be controlled from Deliverect.
Taxes
Deliverect sends the applicable tax category for menu items but does not send the restaurant's actual tax rates when publishing an ezCater menu. Tax calculation is handled by ezCater.
Before publishing your menu
Use this checklist before your first menu publish:
Every catering item has a serving size.
Dietary tags have been added where applicable.
Item type tags have been added where applicable.
Utensil modifier groups are configured correctly.
Tax tags have been reviewed.
Individually packaged items are tagged correctly.
Relish (Meal Program) products are tagged correctly, if applicable.
There are no nested modifiers.
Unsupported variants and upsell structures have been removed.
Your Deliverect or ezCater representative has confirmed that menu publishing is activated.
Once these requirements are complete, you can publish your menu to ezCater.
