In this article, you can find solutions to some of the more common issues when using the Takeaway.com/Thuisbezorgd.nl/Lieferando.de integration.
Issues shown on the Orders page
Error message or issue | How to resolve |
Invalid Discount PLU / Invalid Delivery PLU / Invalid Service Charge PLU. | You're attempting to send a discount, delivery fee, or service charge to your POS without a PLU configured for it. Create the missing item and add it to your channel link settings. Contact our support team if you need help setting this up. |
Issues shown on the Operation reports page
All non-order-related issues are found on the Operation reports page. This includes menu publishing, busy mode, and snoozing.
Menu publishing
Error message or issue | How to resolve |
Menu publish fails because the menu type is “EAT_IN” and menus are not supported in that format. | Takeaway.com doesn't support “Eat-in” type menus. Change the menu type in Deliverect to “Delivery”, “Pickup”, or “Delivery & Pickup”, then republish your menu. |
Menu publish fails with an invalid authorization or configuration error. | This usually means your integration isn't live yet, or there's a setup issue on Takeaway.com's side. Contact our support team so we can check your go-live status. |
Menu publish fails because “4 level items” were detected. | Takeaway.com only supports modifiers nested up to three levels deep, and menus with a fourth level are rejected outright. Remove one layer of nesting from the affected item and republish your menu. |
Menu publish fails because a price is negative. | Takeaway.com doesn't allow negative prices. Update the product to correct the price on the affected item, then republish your menu. |
Menu publish fails because of a problem with menu availability times. | Takeaway.com only supports up to two non-overlapping time slots per menu type (for example 12:00-14:00 and 17:00-22:00). Adjust your opening hours or menu availability so there are no more than two time slots per day, then republish your menu. |
Menu publish fails with a configuration error mentioning Flyt or JET Connect. | This points to a setup issue on Takeaway.com's side rather than with your menu. Contact our support team so we can follow up on your behalf. |
Menu publish fails with “no API found with those values.” | Your store's connection details appear to be incorrect. Contact our support team so we can verify and correct your integration details. |
Busy mode
Error message or issue | How to resolve |
Busy mode fails with a 404 “Not Found” error when trying to close your store. | Your store may not yet be enabled by Takeaway.com for remote status changes, or isn't fully live yet. Contact our support team so we can check this for you. |
Snoozing
If snoozing an item fails with a message about the restaurant not being registered for item availability updates, your store likely isn't fully live yet. Contact our support team to check your go-live status.
Other
Error message or issue | How to resolve |
Orders are printing twice – once on the Takeaway.com pad and once on your POS/DMA. | This happens when both devices are connected to a printer. Disable printing on whichever device you don't want receipts from. |
The pickup time on your Takeaway.com receipt is different from the pickup time shown in Deliverect. | Deliverect always displays the pickup time that was included in the original order. Takeaway.com doesn't send updated pickup times afterward, so the two can drift apart if your store releases orders as soon as they're accepted rather than once a courier is assigned. Contact our support team if you'd like us to ask Takeaway.com to switch your store to release orders only once a courier is assigned, which is more accurate. |
Preparation time shown to diners is too short or too long. | Deliverect doesn't control the preparation time shown to diners on Takeaway.com. Contact Takeaway.com support directly to update it. |
Your store shows as offline on Takeaway.com. | Check that your Takeaway.com pad is switched on, and that the store hasn't been closed via the order pad, driver app, or a partner center request. If everything looks correct on your end, raise this with Takeaway.com support. |
Orders suddenly stop coming through entirely. | Takeaway.com blocks the integration if an order includes an item that doesn't match their latest stored menu – usually caused by menu changes made directly on the Takeaway.com portal (including snoozing), or by a scheduled menu switch. Publish your menu again to resync both platforms and resume receiving orders. |
Product images aren't showing up online. | Takeaway.com manually reviews and approves images, which follow strict guidelines and can take 24-72 hours. If it's been longer than that and your images meet their guidelines, raise a ticket with your Takeaway.com support so they can escalate to their content team. |
The wrong image shows up on a product. | Takeaway.com matches images by product name, so two different products with the same name will share one image. Give each product a unique name, such as “Strawberry Milkshake” and “Strawberry Ice Cream.” |
Optional modifier groups are showing as required to diners. | Takeaway.com has very limited support for nested modifiers – if your menu has any nested modifiers, all modifier groups may show as required, even ones set to optional in Deliverect. As a workaround, add a free “No thanks” option to each optional modifier group so diners can still complete their order. |
Nutritional information is missing for pre-packaged products in Germany or Austria. | German and Austrian accounts are legally required to include nutritional information (allergens, additives, manufacturer info, storage info, deposit price, net quantity) for pre-packaged products. Make sure the “Pre-packaged” toggle is enabled on the product, and use the predefined additive options in English so Lieferando can recognize them correctly. |
You want to use more than two menus at once, or the busy mode “orange” delay feature. | Takeaway.com only supports up to two menus (due to their two-timeslot limit) and doesn't support busy mode orange delays. |
You want to go fully tabletless. | Takeaway.com doesn't currently support tabletless operation – the Takeaway.com pad must stay on, since orders need to be accepted there before they can be released to Deliverect. |
