ChowNow: Solve Issues

In this article, you can find solutions to some of the more common issues when using the ChowNow integration.

Issues shown on the Orders page

On the Orders page, you can find issues related to order processing.

Error message or issue

How to resolve

Orders stop coming through and your store setting shows an authorization error.

Your store's connection to ChowNow has been disconnected, usually because the ChowNow login used to connect it is no longer valid. Make sure you have a dedicated ChowNow user set up for this specific location, then reconnect your store in Deliverect.

New orders take several minutes to arrive.

ChowNow orders are checked periodically rather than sent instantly, so a short delay is normal. If delays are longer than a few minutes, contact our support team.

Issues shown on the Operation reports page

All non-order-related issues are found on the Operation reports page. This includes menu publishing, busy mode, and snoozing.

Menu publishing

Error message or issue

How to resolve

Menu push fails or times out with a connection error.

This is usually a temporary connection or rate-limit issue. Wait a moment and try publishing your menu again.

Menu push fails asking you to select a restaurant/location in the channel settings.

Your ChowNow location hasn't been fully linked yet. Reconnect your store, or contact our support team if no location option appears.

Menu push fails with an authorization error.

Your store's connection to ChowNow needs to be refreshed. Make sure you have a dedicated ChowNow user for this location, then reconnect your store in Deliverect.

Menu push fails with an error mentioning a modifier's minimum quantity being greater than its maximum.

One of your modifier groups has a minimum selection count set higher than its maximum. Update the modifier group so the minimum is less than or equal to the maximum, then republish your menu.

Menu push fails saying a menu could not be found.

This can happen if your menu was previously removed directly on ChowNow. Publish your menu from Deliverect to re-establish the connection, then publish your intended menu again.

Menu push fails with a generic internal server error from ChowNow.

This is usually caused by your menu not meeting one of ChowNow's requirements – for example, duplicate menu or category names, items without descriptions, non-Latin characters, or missing opening hours. Review your menu against ChowNow's requirements, update it, and republish your menu.

Busy mode

Error message or issue

How to resolve

Closing your store with Busy Mode for more than two weeks doesn't work as expected.

Busy Mode on ChowNow only supports temporary closures of up to two weeks. If you need to close for longer, contact our support team. If you close for less than two weeks, remember to manually reopen your store – otherwise it will stay closed for the full two weeks.

Other

Error message or issue

How to resolve

No “Restaurant”/location option appears when trying to connect your store.

This usually means the ChowNow user account used to connect the store was removed. Make sure you have a dedicated ChowNow user for this specific location, then reconnect your store.

Connecting a second or third location disconnects a location you'd already connected.

ChowNow only allows one active connection per user login, so connecting another location with the same login will disconnect the previous one. Create a separate ChowNow user for each location you want to connect.

Images disappear from your menu after a menu update.

ChowNow doesn't support receiving images through menu updates, so any images added directly in the ChowNow dashboard will be removed the next time you publish your menu. Add images directly in your ChowNow dashboard after publishing.

Special characters (accents, emoji, non-Latin text) don't display correctly on your menu.

ChowNow only supports standard Latin characters on menu items. Remove any unsupported special characters from your menu text and republish your menu.

Menu items are missing a description.

ChowNow requires every item to have a description. Add a description to each item and republish your menu.

A menu item with more than 5 duplicate names in the same menu fails to publish.

ChowNow doesn't allow more than 5 items with the exact same name in a menu. Rename duplicate items so there are 5 or fewer with the same name, then republish your menu.

Menu push fails and your menu doesn't appear online at all.

ChowNow requires pickup hours to be included for your menu to show online, even if you only offer delivery. Make sure your menu type includes pickup hours, then republish your menu.
