Careem: Solve Issues

In this article, you can find solutions to some of the more common issues when using the Careem integration.

Issues shown on the Operation reports page

All non-order-related issues are found on the Operation reports page. This includes menu publishing, busy mode, and snoozing.

Menu publishing

Error message or issue

How to resolve

Menu updates are blocked and won't go through.

Your store was set up to block menu updates. Contact our support team so we can confirm and turn this off for you.

Menu publish fails because the store is suspended or inactive.

Your store isn't active in Deliverect. Contact our support team to confirm your subscription and reactivate your connection, then republish your menu.

Menu publish or store status changes fail with a “branch not found” or “not mapped with Careem” error.

Your store is no longer linked to Careem on their side. Contact our support team so we can investigate with Careem.

Menu publish fails with a “customization group can not have nested groups when multiSelect is true” error.

If a modifier group lets diners choose the same option more than once, the options inside it can't have their own nested modifiers. Either remove the nested options, or limit that group's selection to one at a time. If diners need to repeat a choice, split it into separate groups instead, like “Choose your first sandwich” and “Choose your second sandwich.”

Menu publish fails with a “max must be between group min and number of group options” error.

When a modifier group only allows one selection, its maximum can't be set higher than the number of options in that group. Check your modifier groups and correct the min/max values so they match the number of items available.

Menu publish fails with a “catalog cannot be reset” or “there is already a request in the pending state” error.

A previous menu update is still processing. Wait for it to finish before trying to publish again.

Menu publish fails because a description exceeds 500 characters.

Careem limits product descriptions to 500 characters, in both English and Arabic. Check your menu and shorten any descriptions that go over this limit, then republish your menu.

Menu sync repeatedly fails after a “Customization group option not found” error.

This usually means an item or modifier was edited or deleted directly in your Careem merchant portal instead of in Deliverect. Make all menu edits in Deliverect and republish your menu instead of editing directly on Careem.

Menu publish fails with “too many 429 error responses.”

You've hit Careem's rate limit for menu updates. Wait a few minutes before publishing again.

Busy mode

Error message or issue

How to resolve

Busy mode fails with an “unmapped branch” error.

Your store is no longer linked to Careem on their side. Contact our support team so we can investigate with Careem.

Busy mode fails with a 502 Bad Gateway or similar server error.

This is a temporary issue on Careem's side. Wait and try again – contact our support team if it continues.

Snoozing

Snoozing on Careem works by republishing your menu behind the scenes with the item disabled, since Careem doesn't support snoozing modifiers directly. If a snooze fails, the same fixes listed under Menu Publishing above can apply, since the same errors can appear.

How to resolve

Menu updates take a long time to appear on Careem.

Larger menus can take up to 20 minutes to go live on Careem after publishing. This is normal – no action needed.

A modifier group with multi-select of 2 or more must follow Careem's selection rules.

For groups where diners can pick more than one option, the minimum and maximum selections must be set equal to each other, and the group can't contain nested modifiers.

The same product can't be added to two different categories.

Careem doesn't support the same item appearing in more than one category. Make sure each product only appears once in your menu.

Your menu has a large number of items and you're unsure if it's supported.

Careem supports a maximum of 7,000 items, products, and other entities per menu. If you're near this limit, consider simplifying your menu structure.

Only English and Arabic show correctly on Careem.

Careem only supports menu translations in English and Arabic. Other languages won't be sent through.
